Selecting a Hair Style to Match Your Features
When looking for cranial prostheses, it is best to choose a style and color that is similar to your own hair. To determine your facial shape, pull your hair back away from your face. Stand in front of a mirror and match your face to one of the shapes shown here. (Although you may not find an exact match, your face will resemble one of these seven facial shapes.) Also, keep in mind the style of the hair when other considerations exist, such as glasses.

The goal in selecting a hair style is to create the illusion of the perfect shape...the oval. Here are examples of different facial shapes and the types of hair styles that are best for those shapes
.

  The Oval Face:

A person with an oval-shaped face can wear virtually any hair style. This face shape is perfectly symmetrical and any style whether long or short looks good.

  The Round Face:

This shape needs a hairstyle that has some height on the top of the head to create the illusion of a thinner face. Hair may be styled over the ears and cheeks or to one side. For longer lengths, keep hair styled closer to the face. If you desire bangs, style them to one side and avoid having bangs fall straight onto the forehead.

  The Square Face:

For the square face, the style should lift off the forehead. Having the hair brushed forward at the temples and jaw creates narrowness and softness in the face. Wispy bangs may be worn. Asymmetrical hairstyles work well for this face shape.

  Pear-Shaped Face:

Hair should be styled fairly close to the top of the head with a fringe of curls and bangs, combined with fullness to the sides. This creates a wider appearance at the forehead.

  Oblong Face:

Adding fullness to the sides with curls directed close to the top of the head, along with bangs, allows the face to seem shorter and wider.

  Diamond Face:

Style hair close to the head at the cheekbone line to create fullness across the jawline and forehead. Hairstyles that lift away from the cheeks or move back from the hairline should be avoided.

  Heart-Shaped Face:

To reduce the width of the forehead, a center part with bangs flipped up or a style slanted to one side is suggested. Hairstyles that are shoulder length or turn under at the chin will help to of the lower part of the face.
